The specs, price, and release date of the so-called Microsoft Surface Phone have been the subject of many speculations. The device, which is expected to be released under the Surface brand, will run on the latest Windows 10 OS.
Following the Lumia series, Microsoft will once again explore the mobile industry with its Surface Phone. A few variants of the upcoming device would reportedly be released to appeal to various clientele. The variants are the consumer model, a business phone, and a special edition handset, according to Market Exclusive.
There are reports that the Surface Phone will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440×2560 pixel Quad-HD resolution. The upcoming Windows phone could also sport the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4GB of RAM. An option between a 64GB and 128GB storage will likely be included in the set-up.
To make Skype function more convenient for future Surface Phone users, it will feature an 8MP front camera as well as a whopping 21MP rear camera with a Carl Zeiss lens will be included in the package. The Windows device will have a 3.5mm audio jack.
As for its price, it is to be expected that the low-end model of the upcoming Windows mobile device will start at around $699. As for the more sophisticated version of the Microsoft Surface Phone, buyers would have to deal with a $1100 price tag.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the so-called Microsoft Surface Phone may not be a smartphone. The Surface Phone will instead be a hybrid device that goes beyond a smartphone or even a phablet. It will be more of a handheld personal computer, according to Learn Bonds. The rationale behind this is that Microsoft will avoid repeating its mistake with their previous smartphone venture, especially now that they only hold a 0.3 percent share of the smartphone market
