The Nintendo Switch was the real winner in sales in the month of March as the device was the top-selling console in the US. Data provided by the NPD Group show the number of sales of specific devices all over the world last month.
The Nintendo Switch was released on March 3, and it has proved to be the fastest-selling Nintendo device in history. Meanwhile, Microsoft and Sony have not revealed the March sales figures of Xbox One and PS4 respectively. However, it is believed that the PS4 landed in the second place while the Xbox One came in last. This would mean that the PS4 has consistently topped the Xbox One in terms of sales for five-straight months.
The Nintendo Switch captured the attention of viewers from all over the world as it promotes a "play wherever you want" gameplay. Also, the "Legend of Zelda" could be another factor why the device sold massively in March.
Meanwhile, Microsoft, the developer of Xbox One, believes that 2017 would be a good year for the company. The company is reportedly witnessing a sudden increase of players on their products.
"Looking ahead, we are excited to share more about our plans for Xbox One, including launching the world's most powerful console--Project Scorpio--alongside an amazing lineup of new Xbox One games. We are thrilled with the incredible response we have received to date for Project Scorpio, and look forward to sharing more about the Xbox One family of devices in the coming months," Microsofts said in a statement.
While no specific figures were presented by the NPD Group, it stated that the Nintendo Switch was clearly the champion in March.
