New information has surfaced about the successor of Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 2-in-1 tablet.

The Surface Pro 5 will reportedly come with a Surface connector as opposed to changing via a USB-C port. A source who supposedly had a first-hand take at the upcoming gadget said that the 2-in-1 tablet would feature a new processor - the Kaby Lake chip from Intel.

Aside from these, the new Surface tablet will allegedly not include any other major changes.

The cost of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is still yet to be released. The device is expected to cost about $899. It is unclear whether a keyboard will accompany the device, but it is likely to come with a new and modified stylus.

Microsoft has reportedly filed a patent for a rechargeable stylus with a dock. There is no indication whether this innovation will be fitted in the imminent Surface Pro 5.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was supposed to be released with the launch of the Windows 10 Creators Update. However, it was delayed when the update was launched on April 11.

An official release date for the 2-in-1 tablet is not yet in sight, but it may see a spring 2017 release.

Microsoft will hold an event titled "#MicrosoftEDU" in New York City next month - on May 2 to be precise. It is expected that more information about the Surface Pro 5 will be revealed at the event.
