Microsoft is expected to unveil its latest hardware and software on May 2.

The company sent out press invitations for the upcoming occasion that will take place in New York City. A Microsoft representative said that the firm could unveil the supposed Surface Pro 5, Surface Book 2, and Surface Phone.

Microsoft recently revealed its latest quarterly results, and the Surface did not perform well. This implies that its position on the market has dropped. Microsoft's income from Surface in the past quarter decreased by 26 percent year-on-year, according to the Deccan Chronicle. The Surface Pro 5 may just help Microsoft to pick up the lost income.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is one of the most highly anticipated devices this year. While the software giant has not yet verified any of the specs, components, and cost of the gadget, its release date is said to be tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is said to be focusing on its Surface Phone to match the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. If the device is not released at Microsoft's upcoming event on May 2, the 2-in-1 portable workstation tablet will be revealed at some point in Spring.

There is a chance that Microsoft will use its upcoming event to present the new Windows 10 Cloud, which will be the adversary of Google's Chrome OS. It isn't clear yet if Microsoft will present the Surface Book 2 tomorrow,  TechRadar noted.

Microsoft's new Surface Phone does not appear to be among the things that will be divulged at the May 2 event. Microsoft is said to taking the time to work on its Surface Phone to go up against the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. However, since iPhone 8's release is said to have been postponed, Microsoft's priorities may have turned, and we may not see the company release a smartphone at any point soon.
