New details on "Star Wars Battlefront 2" have been revealed ahead of its November release. It is particularly about the game's female lead and its single-player story mode.
In an interview with single-player game director Mark Thompson, he was asked if the gaming fans would receive Iden Versio since Rey and Jyn were involved in the recent Star Wars films.
Thompson replied that he believes saying, "it's just about it making a good character", which is the most important of all, Eurogamer reported. "If the character makes sense to the story, if the character belongs in that universe then everything else is unimportant."
The interview touched on the subject about the droid buddy that Iden Versio has and its role in the gameplay if it will be used for hacking, combat or other purposes. Thompson did not go into specifics but he said that it is the kind of thing that is more interesting when it is showed off and played rather than just talk about.
Since Iden has a rank of a commander and part of the Empire's Special Forces, it is what separates her from the rank and file Stormtrooper. With her combat-ready droid, the Empire's technological prowess gives her greater advantage to her enemies. In Thompson's words, "she has a greater range, a greater reach, more versatility, [and] more flexibility."
He also promised that "Star Wars Battlefront 2" will feature an interesting story that will take the saga from a different angle, from a different perspective. He implies that the story will be focusing more from the imperial perspective. In addition, he mentioned about the storytelling that focused on the ordinary Stormtrooper whose life details are not seen the movies.
"It was just incredible to read that and it was quite inspiring," said Thompson. "That's a super interesting place for us to start exploring character and story."
"Star Wars Battlefront 2" will explore the revenge story of elite Imperial Commander Iden Versio. The game opens at the time when second Death Star was destroyed and continues on to the events of "The Force Awakens". It will be released on November 17 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
