The Google Pixel 2 is a highly anticipated Android smartphone, thanks to the success of its predecessor. The features and specs of the upcoming flagship are expected to challenge the Samsung Galaxy S8. Also, the release date of the second generation likely to be announced soon.
Here are some of the expected features and specs of Google Pixel 2.
Camera
The camera of the first Pixel was above average, but Google will reportedly enhance the camera of the next generation Pixel smartphone.
The Google Pixel 2 has an advantage over the Samsung Galaxy S8 because of its dual-camera system. Value Walk reported that the Pixel 2 might include vertically arranged dual cameras placed at the back and a finger scanner below it. This setup has become the standard for flagship devices arriving this year.
Design
Samsung ditched the physical home button to let the curve display of the device take up the entire front side. Google may also exclude the home button of the upcoming Pixel 2 with thin bezels to have a full front display. Google will also modify the dual-color rear design of Pixel 2.
Also, the Google Pixel 2 may come up with 5.5-inch Quad HD display (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), which is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8.
Battery
According to CNET, the first generation of Pixel ran continuous video playback for 13 hours. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus also performed the same test lasting for about 16 and 18 hours respectively.
If Google wants to beat the devices, the battery of the Pixel 2 should be upgraded to last longer.
Storage Options
Google will offer two internal memory options for Pixel customers; 32GB and 128GB. The upcoming Pixel 2 should also support expandable memory.
Google Pixel 2 Rumored Release Date
According to Tech Times, the release date of the Google Pixel 2 might be sooner than expected. The Pixel was launched in October 2016, but the release date of the second generation likely to be announced by the end of the month during Google I/O event on May 17 to 19.
If not, the Google Pixel 2 can be expected to arrive later this year. There are speculations that it would hit the market in August. But if Google follows its original schedule, the next generation Pixel device will be unveiled in October and will be officially launched the following month.
