A new flagship smartphone from a relatively small Chinese startup is gearing up to challenge Samsung and Apple's flagship devices. The OnePlus 5 looks like a Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 challenger on paper. OnePlus CEO Lau Pete recently announced that the company is working on a phone that is going to be the next flagship killer.
The flagship OnePlus 5 is almost certain to be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 835 processor. This same chip is also used in the global variants of the newly released Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The Snapdragon is built using the 10nm process and is the most powerful processor from Qualcomm for this year.
The OnePlus 5 is expected to run on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. However, in China, it will run on the Hydrogen OS. The OnePlus 5 will likely come in two storage variants - with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage.
The upcoming OnePlus 5 flagship killer would come with a dual camera setup on the back with a 25 megapixels main camera and a 16 megapixels camera on the front.
Ultimately, a new leak suggests that the upcoming flagship killer might be more powerful than we expect. A supposed screenshot posted by a source details some specs of the device including 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.
This leak is uncertain, but, it comes from a source that has announced some accurate leaks in the past. The OnePlus 5 could come out as an alternative to this year's biggest smartphones. It will likely be priced under $500.
