The latest leak on the Pets Expansion Pack for "The Sims 4" reveals the addition of cats and dogs but what about horses? As the data mined game code of this much awaited DLC has surfaced again on the internet, fans are guessing that the release date could happen this year.
The news on the Pets Expansion Pack first came out from the code uncovered from the Toddlers update for "The Sims 4" back in January this year. In the XML resource "relationships.relationship_tracker_tuning", the XML code indicated cats and dogs.
The core enum (list of named values) of said code contains all species but apparently, there is no mention of horses in it. Others initially thought that the code may not be complete yet but the succeeding update revealed that there was no reference to horses from the files.
Some said it could be that horses were first planned to be included in the Pets Expansion Pack but was dropped later. The sim_info_types Python file further proved that horses will not see its return to the current title in the series.
There is not much to tell from the leaks except that cats and dogs are being mentioned. It was noted that a code suggested that Sims can pick up pets just like the toddlers but there is nothing much out the ordinary.
The leaked animation game code (via Sims VIP) that involves the release of the Pets Expansion Pack for "The Sims 4" emerged yet again online last week. Fans then are guessing on the comment thread that it will be available around mid-summer to fall this year.
But from the look of it, the release date of the Pets Expansion Pack might not be this year. The development team at Maxis' studio has a lot on its plate, with the family-themed game pack coming this spring and the Sports-themed stuff pack that will be out in June.
Then, there is the fan selected Eco Living stuff pack that is being developed based on what the fans want. Based on the developer's timeline, it is due for release in 2018.
So far, EA and Maxis have remained mum with regard to the return of pets to "The Sims 4" and so, it stays as a mere speculation at the moment. But if this leaked Pet Expansion Pack is proved to be true, it is likely to arrive next year.
