The Galaxy Note 8 will boast of two key features not found on any of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. It's virtually confirmed that Samsung will bump up the upcoming phablet flagship with a dual camera and a display that will be the largest in the premium Galaxy line.
If the Infinity Display stunned with the GS8 and GS8+, more so with the Note 8 as SamMobile claimed in a new report that the latter screen size will stretch 6.3-inch, which is in line with circulating rumors. And like the GS8, Samsung will make use of the 18.5:9 screen aspect ratio with the next-gen phablet, indicating that while the Note 8 will dwarf over the competition it remain optimized for one-hand use.
While not mentioned in the same report, expectations are high that the Note 8 version of Infinity Display will natively render in 4K resolution, which is a feature that is in line with the emerging virtual reality or VR functionalities for premium mobile handsets.
And there is a chance that Samsung engineers will be able to integrate the fingerprint sensor with the front display glass. The feature was originally lined up for the GS8 but Sammy designers reportedly ran out of time, which is not the case with the Note 8.
If true, the device will correct one of the major user complaints about the GS8 - that the rear-located fingerprint reader that is next to the rear camera sensor is notoriously hard to reach.
Another feature that the GS8 skipped and will likely find its way to the Note 8 is dual camera, as suggested by The Korea Herald in a report. The Korean publication said it's highly likely that the camera bump will be part of the Note 8 following the demos seen during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 last February.
The report said the Note 8 will be equipped with a shooter with the following specs: a 12-megapixel wide angle lens and 13-megapixel telephoto lens capable of up to 3x optical zoom. It should be noted that the same camera specifications were first shared by reputed analyst Ming-chi Kuo in a recent research note.
No pricing and release date details were discussed in any of the new reports but it is believed the Galaxy Note 8 will be touching down between August and September 2017 or a few months ahead of the anticipated Apple iPhone 8 launch in the last quarter of the year.
