Although Apple refused to talk about its upcoming products this year, rumors and speculations are making rounds and here are some of the big launches expected from the tech giant this year.
The iPhone 8
With Apple celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the company is preparing something big to mark the occasion. The much-awaited iPhone 8 is expected to ditch the physical home button and feature a nearly edge-to-edge screen. It is also anticipated to sport a camera with some augmented reality function, a glossy glass back similar to the old iPhone 4, to name a few.
But with a rumored price of $1,000, it may not be so easy to get your hands on the new iPhone 8. Several reports also revealed that because of its sophisticated manufacturing, its commercial release could be delayed.
iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus
Aside from the iPhone 8, the iPhone 7 will get an upgrade too. Although the features are not as exciting as the iPhone 8, the price is relatively cheaper.
Upgraded MacBook Pro, MacBook, MacBook Air
Apple is reportedly planning to update its laptop lineup, with three new notebooks. MacBook Pro is expected to get a faster Kaby Lake processor from Intel Corp. A new 12-inch MacBook with a better Intel chip and longer battery life is also in the pipeline, while MacBook Air could feautre a new processor. The devices are expected to be revealed next month at Apple WWDC Developer Conference.
New iMac
Last month, Apple teased its users by revealing that new iMacs are coming later this year. It did not leak out potential specs to expect or launch date.
Third Generation Apple Watch
Rumors surfaced that Apple plans to release its third Apple Watch this autumn. However, there are no radical changes expected, according to Digitimes. "Its other hardware will not see much change," the report said.
Siri Smart Speaker
Apple is set to compete with Amazon's Echo and Google's Google Home as it is allegedly developing its own smart speaker. The device is slated to feature its well-known AI assistant Siri and could feature a screen, an improved sound quality, and possibly a facial recognition system.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the Siri smart speaker could be unveiled next month at Apple's WWDC developers' conference and will start selling the units on the second half of this year.
4K Apple TV
Apple is also reportedly working on a 4K version of the Apple TV. The Cupertino-based firm is allegedly testing a fifth generation Apple TV box code-named the "J105" with abilities to stream ultra-high definition movies, Bloomberg reported.
