The tech giant Microsoft has unveiled the new Surface Pro that is now available for preorder beginning at $799.
Its official launch date is on June 15. According to reports, the new Surface Laptop will go on sale on the same day. Moreover, the software company stated that the Surface Pro can have13.5 hours of battery life on one single charge, depending on how users use it, The Guardian reported.
That is 50 percent more than the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 by the company's calculations. Also, for an upcharge, users will be able to purchase a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with LTE cellular wireless connectivity - a first for any Surface Pro model.
The new Surface Pro weighs 1.69 pounds and sports a 12.3-inch display, Digital Trends reported. However, it is important to note that the $799 starting price comes with few caveats.
Owners need to purchase the Type Cover keyboard, sold separately beginning at $130, to make it into a complete laptop. Also, the new Surface Pro will not come with the Surface Pen stylus. However, the Redmond giant promises that the new keyboard is more responsive and better than ever, whereas the Surface Pen is more pressure-sensitive, and allows owners put it flat on its side.
The company is making the two accessories available in a set of complementary and new colors. According to many reports, if a user is a current Surface Pro 4 user, their current Type Cover and Surface Pen will work with the device with no issues.
Microsoft's Devices chief Panos Panay said that expectations of people for what their gadgets should help them accomplish are very high and the Microsoft Surface team works to surpass those expectations. People want powerful and beautiful devices with awesome digital inking experiences and all-day battery life.
Panay further said that people want to express their ideas innovatively while being able to work, however, wherever and whenever they choose. The new Microsoft device delivers all that.
