Jailbreak fans badly in need of jailbreak solution for the iPhone 7 series need to thank Luca Todesco - the iOS security researcher has provided beta 3 of extra_recipe+yaluX that essentially is the replacement for the problematic Yalu1011. Now part of the deal is mainly the addition of Cydia Substrate and some much needed bug fixes.
That means the solution is more usable than ever, making the jailbreak experience better and smoother for those with jailbroken iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. As implied, extra_recipe+yaluX is but with limited coverage - it only works on the iPhone 7 models and these handsets need to run on iOS 10.1.1. Outside of these, the latest jailbreak tool from Todesco is useless.
But for those with the conditions mentioned above, extra_recipe+yaluX is good news indeed. "If you have been sitting on iOS 10.1.1 for a long time hoping for a nice and stable jailbreak, then this is your golden chance to get onboard the bandwagon," WCCFTech said in a report.
The same report shared a guide on how to jailbreak using the solution but first users will need to download the needed file here.
For iPhone 7 users that run higher firmware, there is slim chance they can still go back to version 10.1.1 but according to Redmond Pie doing so will require the use of Prometheus and one must be reminded ahead that the solution is not an easy fix. "Unless and until you meet tough requirements of Prometheus, there's no way for you to downgrade your device back to iOS 10.1.1."
It should be noted that walking back to iOS 10.1.1 is no longer officially possible as Apple has long stopped signing the firmware, permanently closing down the door to a downgrade route.
All is not lost, however, for the majority of jailbreak fans. Recently, there were indicators that came out pointing to scenarios that could lead to iOS 10.3 and 10.3.1 opening up for jailbreaking. Pangu from China has demoed the iPhone 7 running a cracked version 10.3 and security researcher Adam Donenfeld has announced that by August he will release to the public a KPP exploit that could lead to a better iOS 10.x jailbreak.
So a few months from now, an iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak release is likely happen and if rumors are correct multiple solutions could be provided by Team Pangu, TaiG and Luca Todesco.
