The OnePlus 5 summer of 2017 release date is confirmed and the actual device availability is rumored to happen as early as June. But there is a new indicator that the arrival of the next-gen flagship killer is coming soon - OnePlus has sounded the last call for the sale of OnePlus 3T.
The call applies to OnePlus buyers from North America, Europe and Hong Kong. In a post on its official forum site, the Chinese device maker said sale of the OnePlus 3T will continue until supplies last, and the company advised: "Only a few devices are left in our warehouse, so purchase yours before time runs out ... This is the last call to buy the OnePlus 3T before stock runs out."
The post also indicated that OnePlus 3T will be hard to find soon as OnePlus has ended the model's production run. In fact, the ongoing last call for the 3T was designed to clear the remaining inventory of the model. And when the last of the stocks have been pushed out, there is no intention to resume production.
That's because the focus now is on the sequel that is virtually confirmed to be known as the OnePlus 5. It is believed mass production of the handset has long commenced and it is ready to ship out real soon. In fact, OnePlus has already teased that the unveiling will happen likely at the start of summertime.
And Qualcomm has sent out confirmation that the Snapdragon 835 will be part of the OP5 package. Leaked details said the SD 835 on the OnePlus 5 will be paired with 6GB of RAM but the possibility remains that a premium OP5 edition will be released boasting of 8GB RAM support.
Also, 9to5Google reported that for the fifth installment of the OnePlus flagship killer the OxygenOS, which is Android-based, has been tweaked for a more optimal performance, meaning the OnePlus 5 when unboxed will be faster and smoother than ever.
Mentioned too in the forum posting cited above is the commitment by OnePlus "to push out more consistent software updates," which the company will apply with the existing and upcoming models. That's like saying the OnePlus 3T will still enjoy firmware support even after the production run and the OnePlus 5 will get OS updates with greater frequency.
The OnePlus 5 release date could happen as early as June 2017 and rumors have it that the asking price will remain a flagship killer, likely no more than $440 a pop.
