"Battlefield 1" will be getting a female soldier class in its next expansion, In the Name of Tsar. Also, the game receives new details on its May 2017 update in a livestream yesterday.
The female soldier is a new multiplayer component in the game's upcoming expansion called In the Name of Tsar. According to the game's official Twitter, the DLC will showcase the Russian army during World War 1. It is represented by Russian Scout class, specifically the Women's Battalion of Death.
The all-female combat unit was formed in real life in May of 1917 that had about 300 soldiers created a few months after the February Revolution. It was led by Maria Leontevna "Yashka" Bochkareva. However, EA does not confirm yet if Yashka represents the Russian Scout class.
The addition of the female Russian Scout to "Battlefield 1" may come as a surprise to its fans. Creative director Lars Gustavsson told Eurogamer in an interview last year that they will not feature female soldiers in multiplayer. But he may be referring only to the content of the main game.
Meanwhile, DICE hosted an hour-long livestream event recently to reveal and discuss the May 2017 update. The game developer confirmed that among the changes coming is some tweaks on AA and nerfs on Bayonets plus a whole lot more. Check out the full details on the patch notes via Gamespot.
As announced last month, there is now a once-a-month schedule for new updates. May 2017 update will focus on gameplay improvements and streamlining the flow into matches among other things. DICE also teased that this month's update is expected to bring extra pleasure to fans of Operations.
"In the Name of the Tsar" expansion is scheduled to come out late summer, and it will be fully shown off during at Sony's E3 event on June 12. It will add the Russian Army, new weapons, new maps and Russian vehicles.
