Motorola Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, Droid Mini Will Not Receive Android Lollipop

Motorola has released an official statement that it will not be rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its smartphones like Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini.

In October 2014, Motorola had announced that the aforementioned smartphones would be updated to Android Lollipop. However, David Schuster who is the Senior Director of Software Product Management with the company has now announced that these smartphones will not get Lollipop update, GSM Arena reported.

In order to compensate for the company's decision of axing Lollipop update, Motorola has decided to provide attractive discounts on the Droid Turbo 2 and Maxx 2 the owners of Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini smartphones.

Motorola is providing a discount of $100 and $50 on Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2, respectively. With the new discounts, the Droid Turbo 2 and Maxx 2 are now available for $524 and $334, respectively for the users of Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini. The offer is valid is valid until May 19. Customers are required to redeem the promo code by June 2, Phone Arena reported.

The Droid Turbo 2 and Maxx 2 smartphones are exclusively available through Verizon in the U.S. Both the handsets were announced in the U.S. in October 2015.

The Droid Turbo 2 comes with 5.4-inch AMOLED display that supports Quad HD resolution.  It comes with a shatterproof screen. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 810 chipset and 3 GB of RAM.  

The Droid Turbo 2 comes in tow storage editions of 32 GB and 64 GB.  It features a memory card slot that supports up to 200 GB of microSD card.

It features a 21 MP camera that is coupled with a dual-LED flash. The frontal camera is of 5 MP and it is provided with a dedicated LED flash. The smartphone features a 3760 mAh battery that supports wireless charging. The same smartphone is available with Moto X Force moniker outside the U.S.

The Moto Maxx 2 that comes with water repellent coating features an IPS LCD screen of 5.5-inches. It supports a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

It is a midrange smartphone that is powered by Snapdragon 615 chipset and 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage of the handset is 16 GB. The smartphone features a 21 MP rear camera and 5 MP selfie camera. It is packed with a 3630 mAh battery. The same smartphone is sold outside the U.S. as Moto X Play.
