Samsung will unpack the Galaxy S7 this 2016 with a number of odd if not welcome adjustments - a downgrade on the flagship phone's camera main shooter and the return of the beloved microSD slot. On release date, the Galaxy S6 sequel is also rumored to pack a bigger battery that suggests of longer operating hours.
From the superb 16-megapixel rear camera unboxed with the S6 in 2015, the South Korean appears to step with the S7 as the latter, according to Phone Arena, will be equipped with a system headlined by a 12MP chief shooter. But the move is not exactly a downgrade, the report noted, adding that "Samsung might be done with the pointless resolution wars, and focus on improving more important photography aspects instead."
The S7 camera will have an f/1.7 aperture and the whole shooting mechanism is likely laced with dual-PD or dual-photodiode technology as rumored earlier, Phone Arena said on its report. And the same goes for the Galaxy S7 Edge.
Both devices are seen to boast of bigger battery packs, as leaked in a previous report by gadget leaker Evan Blass or @evleaks - 3000mAh for the S7 and 3600mAh for the S7 Edge. This rumored upgrade indicates that Samsung is trying to please the Android crowd by extending the battery life of its flagship devices, at least for the upcoming models.
But Sammy fans will certainly even more appreciate the likely return of a feature that the S6 skipped last year (thus causing significant uproar) - the microSD slot. The same report indicated that both the S7 and S7 Edge will be offered in 32GB and 64BG editions with the option to expand the storage space by up to 200GB.
And as in earlier reports, Phone Arena indicated that the power beneath the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is either an Exynos 8890 M1 chip or Qualcomm's latest - the Snapdragon 820. Both chips will be paired with up to 4GB of RAM.
Unboxed, the Galaxy S7 will sport a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen while the S7 Edge has 5.5-inch curved panel of the same display technology. The two devices will render video and images in glorious 2K resolution or 2560 x 1440 screen pixels.
Samsung is rumored to introduce the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge anytime next month with the actual release date expected to follow March 2016 or a month earlier of that of the Galaxy S6 launch in 2015.
