Google Nexus 2016 smartphone by HTC will be coming with support for 3D Touch and Nexus VR support.
The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are the first smartphones to release with pressure-sensitive touchscreens. The 3D Touch functionality offer by Apple allows the display to distinguish between lighter and harder presses on the touchscreen. The 3D Touch like feature is expected to be available on several Android smartphones in this year.
Chinese smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi, Meizu, OPPO and Vivo are rumored to be working on smartphones that will be equipped with pressure-sensitive screens, Gizmo China reported. Apart from the iPhone 6S models, 3D Touch like feature have been made available on devices like ZTE Axon Mini and Huawei Mate S. The upcoming Meizu MX6 flagship is also expected to arrive with the said feature.
The publication has stated that HTC that is constructing the upcoming Nexus 2016 smartphone will be also featuring a 3D Touch display. It is interesting to note that the 3D Touch functionality will be a native feature of the Nexus 2016 smartphone.
The Taiwanese tech giant is rumored to be working on two Nexus branded smartphones for this year. HTC has built the Nexus One smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet in the past for Google. Both the upcoming Nexus 2015 devices will be launched as successor models for the 2015 Nexus phones. However, the newer device will be coming with smaller displays.
The Nexus 5X has 5.2-inch screen and its larger sibling, Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch screen. However, a reliable leakster from China has posted on Weibo that the Nexus 5X successor will feature a 5-inch display and the Nexus 6P would be coming with a 5.5-inch display, Droid-Life reported.
Google is heavily rumored to be launching a Nexus VR product like the Samsung Gear VR headset. It is expected to get unveiled at the upcoming Google I/O 2016 event in May this year. The Nexus VR device is expected to support numerous Android phones. Hence, the Nexus 2016 smartphones is likely to carry support for Nexus VR.
The upcoming Nexus 2016 smartphones will be first the smartphones to come preinstalled with the Android N OS. The search engine giant is also speculated to have partnered with Huawei to launch a Nexus 7 2016 tablet. Last year, Google had launched a Huawei made Nexus 6P smartphone.
