Most will be wondering what happened to the planned Windows 10 Mobile upgrade that should have come in February. Well, clearly something happened because it didn't come. However, the software giant has adjusted its plans and is aiming for a March release.
For those who own the Lumia 950 line of devices or the Lumia 550, there's nothing to worry about because these handsets came with Windows 10 Mobile, although unfinished and filled with bugs. Folks with older handsets that were originally launched with Windows Phone 8, are the ones who will have to wait until the end of March.
We should point out that the full release of Windows 10 Mobile will not be automatic. According to a report from Venturebeat, users will be required to manually update their smartphone devices to the new operating system.
"The rollout is said to begin passively, from Microsoft's perspective, in that users will need to initiate it manually from their handsets. Only afterwards, on an unspecified timetable, will the company begin actively pushing the new firmware to eligible devices," reports Venture Beat.
It is not certain why Microsoft had refused to release the operating system in February. We believe this may have boiled down to the fact that Windows 10 Mobile is still a problem that needs fixing. It is basically the lesser of two brothers, with Windows 10 being the most accepted.
Windows 10 Mobile in its current form is a big problem for users as it is overrun with bugs according to Christian Monitor, and Microsoft key apps that do not work as intended. There are times when these apps will crash, leaving us wondering what just happened. The same apps on Windows 10 works just fine, but they can't seem to work as well on mobile.
The update process which has been smoother than expected where the Windows 10 Insider Preview was expected, is something not found in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview.
Overall, we hope the full release is a lot better than what Insiders are using right now. We're not sure if Microsoft can rectify all problems, if even just the most important ones, that would be great for hardcore fans who refuse to jump ship.
