Sonos made it very clear that the future of music lies in online streaming, and sees doubling down into online streaming so as to provide an experience to the listeners at home. Presently, not many options are with the home listeners.
According to Mac Rumors, Sonos, music partner of Apple music and a wireless audio company, strongly believes in the future of online streaming and gave evidence of Beatles being an online streaming library in the process of evolution with time. Sonos CEO John Macfariane stated in his blog post and made it very clear that the company will lay off employees on grounds of the ongoing restructuring process. Though, he did not make it clear as to the amount of lay offs and the possible names or departments where the layoffs shall be done.
Apple Insider reveals Sonos sees a great opportunity in its wireless music solutions. The competition in this market is stiff with Google, Samsung and Bose, having big share in the wireless segment that connects home audio solutions.
Amazon also recently released two systems developed on voice control systems that can be integrated with third party devices. Sonos sees a probable scope of increasing its product integration with these products, as they support third party products. Sonos is a big fan of Amazon, and believes in its voice recognition technology in product lines of Alexa and Echo.
Voice recognition system is not a new thing and shall be impacting the way audio devices interact at home with each other, as the likes of TV, Music, and Weather information system opens a way for the developers to work in this front. So for Sonos future, it is quite clear where it wishes to control its wireless audio devices - through an App that has third party streaming option.
