A recent eBay listing unceremoniously revealed what appears to be an unreleased Google Glass Enterprise edition headset. Both Google and its parent company Alphabet have been quiet about the status of its wearable device. Moreover, the authenticity of the eBay listing is still up for debate as both Google and Alphabet did not comment on the issue.
The eBay listing came from a pawn shop based in San Francisco. The listing revealed a couple of picture of the headset which shows some notable changes from the Explorer edition which was released back in 2013.
Compared to the Google Glass released in 2013, the new iteration of the wearable device sports a foldable hinge which allows it to be folded just like a traditional pair of glasses. One of the photos also reveal a proprietary cable which tech experts believe can be used to transfer data into the device as well as recharge its batteries. Rumors claim that the port looks just like Apple's MagSafe technology rather than the traditional Micro USB port used in the first version of the Google Glass.
A handful of sketches of the Google Glass was uncovered late last year when a Google FCC filing leaked and based on the eBay photos, the new Google Glass looks pretty much the same to the leaked model.
Rumors claim that the Google Glass Enterprise model sports a larger prism display which allows it to display more information at once. Moreover, the new Google Glass model is said to have an integrated LED indicator which turns on when the embedded camera is recording.
Rumors claim that the Google Glass Enterprise model sports a less power hungry processor which in turn can extend the device's battery life. It also supports 5GHz Wi-Fi standards.
According to ArsTechnica, one of the eBay listings for the Google Glass Enterprise has reached a bid of as much as $3,250, despite the fact that the authenticity of the device is still questionable.
The original Google Glass Explorer costs $1,500. Years after the release of the first Glass device, Google has since placed the unit working on it under its Project Aura group, according to The Verge.
