Samsung folding smartphone rumors suggest the likelihood of a 2017 release. The Korea-based company is also said to be working out a mass production plan.
Ubergizmo previously stated that several reports have already revealed the company's plan of developing a display, which is capable of folding and bending. Besides the Samsung folding smartphone release rumors that were recently disclosed by the ET News that is also based in South Korea, a few other reports have also revealed that Samsung is going to pack the technology in either a 7-inch tablet or a 5-inch smartphone.
The device reportedly will also be called a smartlet, since it could be folded in the same way as an ordinary wallet can be folded, USA Today reported. Regardless of whether Samsung opts for a folding tablet or a folding smartphone, experts are noting that it must be able to keep up with the company's reputation of releasing a state of the art device.
Considering that Samsung is the first tech company to ever introduce this type of features to their customers, fans are reportedly overwhelmed with the idea.
Other Samsung folding smartphone rumors include that it is more likely to be given the name Samsung Galaxy S8. As reported by Know Your Mobile, the prototype smartphone is named "Project Valley," which may possibly become the Galaxy S8 if the device is to be packed as a smartphone. However, if it is going to be a tablet, it is reportedly going to expand into a 7-inch display device.
In terms of features, the rumored Samsung folding smartphone is believed to come with a flexible OLED display. It is also expected to go through some tests for a Snapdragon 820 and 620 chips from Qualcomm with 3GB of RAM.
According to a statement from Lee Chang-hoon, Director of Samsung Display, Samsung folding smartphone is happening according to the company's schedule. Chang-hoon also confirmed that they are planning a mass production release of the folding smartphone, and that they are now discussing the details with their manufacturing partners.
