HTC Vive, aside from being the most impressive virtual reality technology device being sold today, is also the most costly VR device to date with a $799 price tag. Recently, HTC has offered in-store VR demos in partnership with a few retailers to provide a feel of what it is like to have one.
The HTC Vibe demos are made available in Microsoft stores in Bellevue, WA, Salt Lake City, and New York. HTC is also planning to make demo stations before May gets in across Australia and the United States. Also, Gamestop is said to offer its own demos in 10 locations, which will kick off on April 16.
While there are no running wild during the VR experience, the company is instead setting up a 10-minute gameplay experience to showcase its features. Some of the games that can be experienced during the demos include "Tilt Brush," "Job Simulator," "Space Pirate Trainer," and "The Blu."
Previously, customers scored HTC products that are part of the Hot Deals promo with up to a 60 percent discount. The RE camera goes on sale for $79.60, a 60 percent cut from the original price of $199. The Nexus 9 tablet has 40 percent discount, depending on storage specifications, which are 16 GB, 32 GB Wi-Fi, or 32 GB LTE. The 32 GB LTE model, originally priced at $599, was sold at only $359.40.
Smartphones were also part of the HTC sale. The Desire 626, with 5-inch display, dual color design, and capable specifications, was available for $179 for this day only. The company's One A9, a smartphone that received a lot of criticism for seemingly faking the iPhone look, was sold at $389. The device is more than capable with it featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chip, 3 GB of RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera, and Quad-core 1.5 GHz processor. However, the battery life is reportedly an issue.
The company is also clearing out the HTC One M9, its current flagship, a week before the next in line flagship, the HTC 10, comes out. HTC One M9 was sold at $399, a $150 decrease from its original price of $649. With HTC One M9's high specifications, a price of $399 was said to be not a bad deal at all, Phonedog reported.
The HTC One M9 featured a powerful 20 megapixel rear camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, 3 GB RAM, and a Quad-core 1.5 GHz/2.0 GHz GPU. However, its best feature is the front face stereo speakers with Dolby Audio surround sound and built-in amp.
HTC's Hot Deals Promo was a one-day deal.. This is the first time that HTC has offered this many devices, says Droid Life, and the coming of the next flagship on April 12 might be the reason. Watch the demo video here:
