Chrome Dev have redesigned the bookmarks widget, which earlier had many useless thumbnails, that will now include a list item style rather than a grid, along with material design navigation. This new version is going to come out by the end of May.
The earlier improvement with the latest Chrome Dev build v51 was the complete removal of Merge Tabs and Apps. Merging open tabs with apps was considered as a multi-tasking dream. Slowly, Google realized that this feature was least used by users and so it disabled this default option.
Still, users were provided with an option of toggling this feature through the Setting menu. Probably, Google has completely removed it from the latest version (v51.0.2700.2), as this option is not available now. The second improvement that can be found in the Bookmarks widget is the updated widget version. It is now a powerful, better looking widget, with the boot navigation easier to understand. Chrome Dev is made available at APK mirror or on the Play Store.
In the Recents App list, even different Google Chrome tabs are shown as separate Chrome instances. While some Chrome users might find this useful, it is not liked by everyone; especially since the Recents App list of Lollipop stays intact even after restart. It also removes the switcher tab from Chrome (for Android) because Google wants the Recent Apps list to be used to switch between tabs. The new Bookmarks Manager UI is available in the Chrome Menu > Bookmarks > Bookmarks Manager.
The new widget is not going to organize bookmarks, so it will definitely encourage users to organize them in folders though. As of now, Chrome Dev is on version 51, with its stable build on version 49. The latest version is expected to become stable by the end of May, but its Beta build is supposedly going to be out soon.
