Samsung re-launched their flagship smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2, early this year, much to the anticipation of Samsung enthusiasts. During the announcement, Samsung confirmed that they are currently developing an app that would make the tech giant's wearable device compatible with Apple's operating system. Samsung failed to confirm when the iOS application for the Gear S2 would be available for download. However, it seems like the tech company has been working hard on the promised app as leaks of the upcoming application have already made their way online.

Mac Rumors recently reported about screenshots of the Gear S2 app for iOS have been uploaded on an Android and Windows phone forum site, XDA developers. These pictures provided the first glimpse of Samsung Gear S2's upcoming iOS app.

Some members of the forum site were able to download said app for testing. According to the testers, the Gear S2 iOS app is equipped to deliver notifications from the iPhone to the smart watch. Testers also reveal that the app is able to install apps from the Gear store, which would automatically appear on the wearable device. While notifications are possible, replying to messages and other alerts have not yet been included in the iOS application. In order for the watch to connect with the phone, the Samsung Gear S2 Lite app needs to be running in the background.

Samsung released the Gear S2 in October 2015. During the re-launch of the wearable device as summarized in an official press release, it was announced that the Gear S2 would now be available in 18k Rose Gold and Platinum variants. Samsung further confirmed that they have teamed up with Colombo via della Spiga in order to produce luxury leather straps for the Gear S2.

It was also during the re-launch wherein Samsung announced the arrival of the iOS compatible application. The company has yet to announce when the app would be available. However, the tech manufacturer revealed that the app would be introduced within the year.

"The Gear S2 will be compatible with even more devices to extend accessibility to a wider range of mobile users. In addition to supporting Android devices, the wearable will be compatible with those running on iOS," read a part of Samsung's press release.
