Huawei P9 Lite Is Official, Release Date Expected In May

Huawei P9 Lite has been officially announced. Speculations suggest that its release date will be set in May.

Recently, Huawei had announced the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus smartphones. The P9 Lite is the third smartphone in the P9 series. It comes with a 5.2-inch screen that supports full HD resolution like the P9 smartphone, Phone Arena reported.

The P9 Lite is powered by Kirin 650 chipset whereas the P9 smartphone features the powerful Kirin 955 chipset under its hood. The P9 Lite smartphone comes in two RAM variants such as 2 GB and 3 GB. Both the models feature 16 GB of native storage.

The P9 phone has a dual camera setup of 12 MP. On the other hand, the P9 Lite lacks a dual camera system. Instead, it features a 13 MP camera that is enabled with a single LED flash. The front-facing camera of the smartphone is of 8 MP. The smartphone comes preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS that is customized with Huawei's Emotion UI 4.1 software.

It also comes with advanced features like a fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C connector. The smartphone is packed with a huge battery of 3000 mAh capacity. It comes in three color options of white, black and gold.

The Huawei P9 Lite will be hitting European markets by May with a price tag of about $337. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether the smartphone will be released in the U.S. markets. Speculations suggest that if it arrives in the U.S., its unlocked variant will be priced around $300.

Huawei did not announce the P9 Lite alongside the P9 and P9 Plus smartphones. Even before the company made the P9 Lite official, it has been spotted on retailer sites from Germany and Romania, GSM Arena reported. The smartphone has also appeared on TENAA, the certification body from China.

Google had partnered with Huawei to manufacture the Nexus 6P smartphone last year. The Nexus 6P has been praised by critics and its users. Speculations are rife that both the companies have collaborated once again and are working on a 7-icnh Nexus 7P tablet. Google did not release a tablet last year. However, in had launched an 8.9-inch Nexus 9 tablet. In 2012 and 2013, it had released 7-inch Nexus 7 tablets.
