The leaked photos of two BlackBerry Android smartphones surfaced online.
BlackBerry is rumored to be working on two Android powered smartphones codenamed Rome and Hamburger. The source where the leaked photos were found has not revealed any information on their specifications and features, Times News UK reported.
The CEO of the Canadian firm, John Chen had acknowledged the $700 pricing of BlackBerry Priv at launch was expensive. The $50 discount that was introduced later on did not help in in achieving more sales of its first Android smartphone. Hence, the company will be launching two budget-friendly Android smartphones this year that will be costing around $300 to $400, The National reported.
He also added that one of the BlackBerry Android smartphones of 2016 will be coming with a full touchscreen and the other one will be arriving with a physical QWERTY keyboard. However, he refrained from revealing details on the specifications of both the device.
BlackBerry Hamburger
According to leaked images of BlackBerry Hamburger, it can be known that the smartphone will not feature a QWERTY keyboard, but it will arrive with a full touchscreen. Speculations indicate that it may feature a slider keyboard.
The Hamburger smartphone measures 146 x 78 mm and it wears a metal uni-body design. The logo of the company can be seen on the top of the device. A long speaker grille is placed below the screen. On its left side is the power button and buttons for controlling volume and phone lock can be found on its right edge. It is expected to hit the market by the second half of this year with a price tag of about $400.
BlackBerry Rome
The leaked renders of the BlackBerry Rome have revealed that it will be arriving with a physical QWERTY keyboard below its large display. Few months ago, the rumor mill had revealed images of a purported BlackBerry Vienna smartphone. The BlackBerry Rome seems to appear similar to the alleged Vienna smartphone.
Early rumors indicate that the Rome smartphone will arrive with an AMOLED display. It features a speaker grille above the display and it also features another one below the keyboard. The logo of the firm is placed on its top.
