The longest distance ever by a hoverboard flight was set by Frank Zapata, which released a new world record as he attempted to cross the coast of Sausset-les-Pins in the south of France.

Zapata is also a French jet ski champion in which he managed to complete a distance of 7,388 feet which surpassed the previous record of 905 feet and 2 inches by Canadian innovator, Catalin Alexandru Duru, last year.

Zapata, who is 37 years of age, was about 50 meters above the surface for this world record breaking feat, ans is followed by a fleet of jet skis and boats. Apparently, this futuristic aircraft is known as the Flyboard Air which has been developed and manufactured by his own company, Zapata Racing.

The aircraft's abilities include sustaining a maximum height of 10,000 feet above the ground, that can also travel at a maximum speed of 150 kilometers per hour. According to an official from the Guinness World Records, Sofia Grenache, this confirms that the Flyboard Air has followed the rules of the record upon reaching this spectacular, historic distance. Zapata says during a press conference, this has really been my life's work.

In a short video, the test flight for the Flyboard Air became immediately viral which now has almost 4 million views on Youtube. To prove to the naysayers on the comment section of the test flight video on Youtube, Zapata set out a new world record title as the farthest hoverboard flight.

However, this is also not the first attempt that Zapata Racing made a hoverboard. In recent years, the company developed a wide range of water propelled aircraft which includes the original Flyboard which is a vehicle that can be connected to a personal watercraft turbine using a long hose.

Now, the Flyboard Air utilizes a revolutionary "Independent Propulsion Unit" for it to fly alonw without a hose, making it airborne for up to 10 minutes.

Apart from this Guinness World Record, Zapata also set the previous record for the most backflips using a water jet pack under one minute at 26 backflips, during a TV show known as "Officially Amazing" in L'Estaque in Marseille, France, also in 2014.
