Huawei Honor 5C Brings Metal Unibody Design, Kirin 650 Octa-Core CPU, Fingerprint Reader For $155

The recently unveiled Huawei Honor 5C that is priced at $155 comes with metal unibody design. Kirin 650 octa-core processor and fingerprint reader.

Huawei has announced its latest budget smartphone, the Honor 5C. The Chinese firm had recently unveiled its newest flagship, the Huawei P9. The specifications of Honor 5C resembles with the rumored specs of the unreleased Huawei P9 Lite smartphone, GSM Arena reported.

It features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen that supports a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels fitted on a unibody metallic chassis. The smartphone is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 650 chipset that includes an octa-core processor.

The chipset houses four cores of Cortex A53 clocking at 2 GHz and the other four cores of Cortex A53 working at 1.7 GHz. The chipset is supported by 2 GB of RAM. The expandable storage on the device supports up to 128 GB of microSD. The inbuilt storage of the device is 16 GB.

It is equipped with a 13 MP camera that features a f/2.0 aperture lens. It is enabled with single LED flash. The front side of the Honor 5C houses an 8 MP camera that is fitted with a f/2.0 aperture lens. The backside of the Honor 5C also features a fingerprint reader. The smartphone comes preinstalled with Android Marshmallow OS that is overlaid with 4.1 version of EMUI software from Huawei.

The Honor 5C is a dual-SIM smartphone that offers 4G LTE connectivity through its Cat. 6 LTE modem. Other connectivity options available on the smartphone include microUSB 2.0 slot, v4.1 Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.

The Honor 5C measures 147.1 x 73.8 x 8.3 mm and its weight is 156 grams. It is packed with a massive battery of 3000 mAh capacity. The 3G only model of Huawei Honor 5C is priced at CNY 899 ($139). Its 4G variant is priced at CNY 100 ($155). Since Honor is a global brand from the company, the smartphone is expected to release in markets outside China in the near future.

Rumors are rife that Huawei is working on Mate 9, the successor model of Mate 8 smartphone that was launched in November last year. It is expected to be powered by Kirin 960 chipset. It is speculated to feature 20 MP dual camera system.

The P9 and P9 Plus that were launch recently feature 12 MP dual camera setup by Leica. There is no confirmation on whether Leica will be building 20 MP dual camera for Huawei Mate 9, Gizmo China reported.
