Fans of two popular and highly regarded games, "Final Fantasy XIV" and "Yo-kai Watch," will be pleased to know that a crossover is currently in the works. Square Enix, developer of the "Final Fantasy" series, and Level-5, developer of "Yo-kai Watch," recently confirmed that they are collaborating to meld the two games together.

Reports claim that characters from "Yo-kai Watch" will do the crossover towards Eorzea, the setting of "Final Fantasy XIV." The announcement was made during the "Final Fantasy XIV" Letter from the Producer livestream.

It was confirmed that 13 popular characters from "Yo-Kai Watch" will be part of the crossover. Along with the characters, the crossover will also include weapons, the Yo-kai watch, and the Whisper flying mount, according to Gematsu.

Unfortunately, the crossover content will be made available for the Japanese version of "Final Fantasy XIV." It is still virtually unknown whether the contents will be released in regions outside of Japan. On the other hand, both developers have kept their silence about this issue. Some video game analysts said that there are no indications showing that the contents will not be released on other regions. They believe that both Square Enix and Level-5 are maintaining their silence in order to add more hype into the crossover.

The collaboration is not one sided at all. As part of the crossover, Level-5 agreed that two popular "Final Fantasy" mascots will be released as part of the upcoming "Yo-kai Watch 3." These mascots are Mooglinyan and Chocobonyan. "Yo-kai Watch 3" is still in the development phase, and Level-5 estimates that the game should be ready before the end of the year for a widespread release.

Only the first "Yo-kai Watch" game was released in the Western hemisphere. Reports claim that gamers in this region will have to wait until the third game is released, before they can able to get their hands on the other iterations of the game.

On top of the "Yo-kai Watch" collaboration, Square Enix also announced the release of update 3.3 for "Final Fantasy XIV," dubbed Revenge of the Horde. According to VG24/7, the update will include the final chapter of the Dragonsong War which will introduce players to new beast tribe quests that will involve moogles and dragons.
