Apple has confirmed that it would have a press event on Sept. 7 to unveil the new iPhone and Apple Watch. This is the fifth-straight year that the company would hold an early event to unveil its latest products.
Apple's invitations to the event say "See you on the 7th." This has led many to speculate that the company would unveil the highly-anticipated iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus during the press conference at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
The number of translucent-colored bubbles behind the invitation's background is said to support the rumors that the new iPhone will come in different colors.
iPhone 7 or iPhone 6SE?
While most people are expecting an iPhone 7, Apple has not officially confirmed if they would be giving the new model that name.
The Verge reported several leaks suggesting that the company would opt to introduce the model as the "iPhone 6SE." The name makes sense given that Apple has announced the new iPhone is only an iterative update, rather than a major design overhaul.
Design and Specifications
The new iPhone is expected to look identical to the iPhone 6s, but thinner. Similar to last year's flagship, the new iPhone will come in two sizes, one with a 4.7-inch display and another with a larger 5.5-inch display.
One of the major changes on the device is likely to be the absence of the 3.5mm headphone jack located on its base. There are rumors that Apple would be replacing the old headphone jack with a lightning port instead.
Another rumor is that the new iPhone would have a dual-camera setup. According to Mirror UK, the dual-camera snaps brighter pictures in low-light environments and captures more details. However, the feature will only be available on the 5.5-inch version of the new iPhone.
Apple Watch
It has been a year and a half since Apple release the first-generation model of the Apple Watch. The new model of the Apple Watch is expected to maintain the sleek design of its predecessor. However, it would come with faster internal systems and a GPS feature.
