Samsung has opted to delay the launch of its much-awaited flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7, in India.

Samsung India has reportedly sent an official communication to its customers, who pre-booked the Galaxy Note 7, informing them about the delay.

"Thank you for pre-booking Galaxy Note 7. We regret to inform that delivery of your Galaxy Note 7 is being delayed. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience," Samsung India said. "You can be assured that we are working hard to deliver your Galaxy Note 7 to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding."

The Indian subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate, however, did not specify the reason behind the decision.

The Galaxy Note 7 was unveiled in India on August 11. Priced at around $900, the device was supposed to go on sale in India on September 2.

The South Korean electronics and information technology giant recently announced that it is recalling the Galaxy Note 7 amid reports of device's batteries bursting into flames. A Samsung investigation reportedly found a battery cell issue with the Galaxy Note 7.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the successor of massively popular Galaxy Note 5, is powered by an Exynos 8890 octa-core processor. It would come with a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The device also sports a curved 14.39cm (5.7) QHD Super AMOLED screen and a powerful 3,500 mAh battery.
