Videocon Cube 3 Launched, to Come With 'Panic Button'

Indian telecommunication firm Videocon has introduced its latest smartphone, Cube 3, which will come with a panic button.

Videocon Cube 3 is equipped with a pre-loaded 'SOS-Be Safe' emergency response app, which would use the power button as an SOS button to send alerts to a user's saved emergency contact numbers with GPS location.

The Cube 3 is Videocon's first smartphone to be equipped with this safety app. Videocon also announced that it would add an SOS-Be Safe emergency response application as well as a panic button to its smartphone portfolio.  

"With smartphones impacting our lives in many ways, emergency response system or panic button is certainly the need of the hour," Videocon's Akshay Dhoot said in a statement. "We welcome the recent provision by the government for devices with emergency response facilities as it will provide a new direction for the industry to empower smartphone users. We are confident that 'SOS-Be Safe' app will assist smartphone users during different kind of emergency situations."

Videocon Cube 3 Specifications

Priced at around $126, the Videocon Cube 3 comes with a 5-inch full high definition display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixel.  It features a 13 megapixel rear and a 5 megapixels front cameras.

The Videocon Cube 3 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor and equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It comes with an Android 6.8 Marshmallow operating system and a 3,000mAh battery. The affordable smartphone, which is now available via offline channels in India, supports Reliance Jio SIM, 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
