The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has emerged as the highest-selling smartphone ever in India's online marketplace.
Xiaomi India, the Indian subsidiary of the Chinese smartphone maker, announced on Tuesday that it has sold 2.3 million units of the Redmi Note 3 mobile in India. The Redmi Note 3 was launched in India in March and within seven months, the smartphone made it to the top of India's highest-selling smartphone list.
The Chinese tech giant, popularly known as "Apple of China," has also become the third-largest smartphone vendor in thirty Indian cities, a recent industry analysis report said.
Xiaomi entered into India's home appliance market with the launch of its first Mi Ecosystem-based product - the Mi Air Purifier 2 - in the country last week. The company is also planning to introduce its highly popular crowd-funding platform to India.
"Consumers pay the money in advance and it wouldn't be fair if they had to wait for such a long time before they get the product delivered. We will have to figure out these challenges before we can bring the programme here," Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra said recently.
