Tinder has launched a new premium feature called Tinder Boost, which makes a user's profile to become visible to others.
The online dating app company is conducting a trial of the new feature in Australia. Tinder frequently tests new products in Australia before releasing them to the rest of the world, CNet reported.
Using the Tinder Boost feature will increase the visibility of a user's profile in the nearby area for 30 minutes. Tinder says that users will get 10 times more profile views, and hopefully more matches. The feature is about saving users’ time.
“With Tinder Boost, users can maximize their time and match potential by being one of the top profiles seen in their area with the tap of a button. With 1.4 billion swipes a day on our platform, sometimes our users want to be sure that they are swiped to the front. We think our users in Australia will love this feature and hope to release it globally soon,” Tinder said in a statement.
Tinder Boost is similar to Google Ads or Twitter’s Promoted Tweets because user pays to be featured as one of the top profiles in their area compared to standard Tinder users, according to Venture Beat.
Tinder is not the first dating firm to offer this feature. Another popular dating website Match.com is also offering a paid Boost feature that will put a user’s profile in the Popular Singles tab as well as at the top of search results. OKCupid gives its users the chance to buy 10 boosts for $16.90 ($1.69 each), getting a whole day worth of activity in one 15-minute boost.
Users who are already paying for the premium Tinder Plus will get one boost a week. Free version users can buy a boost whenever they need it. However, the company has not yet announced the price of this premium feature.
