Twitter has unveiled its new storytelling feature called Moments. The feature is now open to all users and can be used for creating stories using uploaded tweets and pictures.
Twitter rolled out the service gradually. Earlier this year, Moments was opened to brands and influencers. Moments will likely help users who are currently using third party apps such as Storify for this purpose.
Twitter Moments works by collecting content from various accounts discussing a particular subject. A user does not need to follow the other accounts for this purpose. This new service may help in highlighting the best content on the microblogging site. It may also help to boost Twitter's stagnating user base.
The feature is currently available on the desktop version of Twitter only. However, the company has said that the mobile app will receive the same functionality soon. The process of creating Moments is simple as a user only needs to tap a button. After this, the user needs to select the content which they want to add to their Moments.
Twitter has been dealing with a host of issues lately. The social media site is struggling to increase its user base. Twitter was recently sued by a host of investors, who accused the company of misleading them about its growth potential. There are rumors that the company may be looking at strategic alternatives including selling its assets. Various major technology companies including Microsoft and Google are said to be interested in acquiring Twitter.
