Facebook is reportedly testing its 'Messenger Day' tool.

This new feature lets users share a collection of pictures and videos. However, like Snapchat, the collection disappears after 24 hours. The feature also gives users options to enhance their graphics using stickers, text and more, making it a close copy of the Snapchat Stories feature.

Messenger Day is said to be under testing in Poland. Facebook is not the first company to copy the Snapchat Stories feature. Instagram also has a similar 'Stories' tool, which was introduced in August.

Facebook is likely taking the self-destructive feature a step ahead. The social media giant had tested this feature on its regular news-feed. The feature, called Quick Updates, was used by some test objects. However, it was never formally rolled out. Facebook also tried a similar feature with Facebook Messenger where the message self-destructed in an hour.

In 2012, Facebook introduced an app called 'Poke' with a similar auto-expiring feature. It allowed short messages to disappear after 10 seconds. The app was shut down in 2014. It was followed by Slingshot in 2014, which also featured this self-destructing function. However, this app also failed to gain traction and was shelved last year.

Facebook has long coveted Snapchat's success. The company had tried to buy the startup for $3 billion in 2013. However, the offer was reportedly turned down by Snapchat.
