An Apple iPhone 7 smartphone reportedly exploded a few days ago, according to a Reddit user named "kroopthesnoop."

The user uploaded pictures of the burnt smartphone online. Some netizens have expressed concern that the explosion might be due to a similar fault as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Kroopthesnoop said that "something happened between the factory and delivery." He explained that the problem occurred during transportation and not while the device was being used.

The type of battery used in smartphones is almost always safe unless they are punctured.

No additional cases of Apple's latest device exploding have been reported yet. Therefore the Reddit user's complaint is an isolated case. Apple is yet to comment on the issue.

However, according to Gadget 360, a representative of Apple contacted the owner of the iPhone 7 that exploded and promised to coordinate with AT&T to "expedite a replacement phone."

The Apple iPhone 7 was released in mid-September with new features including a haptic home button, no headphone jack, and an upgraded A10 Fusion processor.

The device is now available in over 50 countries and is expected to be available in the Indian market on Oct. 7 and other countries on the Oct. 14.
