Microsoft is looking to revamp its Paint app and boost its performance. The new version of the app will come with more touch- and pen-friendly features. It will also offer support for 3D objects.

The new version of the Paint app is designed to be a Universal Windows app. It will come with new tools such as stickers, 3D creations, and community sharing.

A tutorial video shows new painting tools which make use of pen and touch for creating and editing scenes with 2D objects, 3D objects, and stickers. These scenes can be viewed from different angles by using the swivel and flip feature. The interface of the app has also been given a modern makeover.

The new app also has various tools such as new fonts, pencils, and markers. It allows for freehand 3D shapes. The app is designed to give its best performance with touch-based devices which allow for the use of a stylus. The 3D function of the app may gel well with the company's HoloLens hardware.

The updated app also offers better speed. However, the app still does not support layering. It does not seem to have shortcuts or the ability to handle multiple files.

Microsoft has not announced the release date of the new app. However, it has been released to selected users for alpha testing.

The updated Microsoft Paint app is likely to be introduced to the public during the Windows 10 event on October 26. In this case, Microsoft may combine the demonstration of the app and its new Surface All in One PC.
