Dell Technologies is focusing on becoming a complete end-to-end tech product and service provider, something other Technology Giants such as IBM and Hewlett-Packard have failed to achieve. The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dell, Michael Dell, seems to have found the secret weapon to achieve this; data.
At the first DELL EMC World Technology Conference in Austin, Texas, Dell pointed out the wide range of products and services that the merged company (Dell and EMC) would be able to provide for customers in every segment. The conference was the first Dell users' conference since the company's $58 billion acquisition of Boston-based EMC Corp and the subsequent merger with Dell to form the Dell Technologies Inc.
Michael Dell expressed concern that by the time most businesses figure out what needs to be done to grow customer data, the technology would have moved to another dimension. Greater innovations are expected in the artificial intelligence segment.
Dell reassured customers that Dell Technologies is best equipped to take on the technological shift in the industry, according to Biz Journals. He also pointed out that Dell Technologies can supply both the hardware and software for new developments in cloud computing, data analysis, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence.
From the personal computer sales perspective, Irish Times reported that Michael Dell has doubled down on the commitment of the company. He believes that with the internet of things connecting with most everyday items, PCs could be the link between smart devices to the data centers. He noted that the PC business would remain at the core of the strategy and mission of the company.
The large scale movement of internet services to cloud hosting and the growth of the software-as-a software industry are both critical factors for the future of Dell.
Michael Dell has held the annual tech conference for the past six years at the Convention Centre in Austin, the city in where he began his computer enterprise. However, due to the lack of suitable convention space in the city, the Dell-EMC World Technology Conference would be held in Las Vegas next year.
