What can wipe out the entire human race? A race of Frankensteins, according to a new study. (Pixabay)
In a bizarre new study, scientists say that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein could result in an ultimate extinction of the human race if he mated.
In the 19th century novel, this man-made monster is created by a mad scientist known as Victor Frankenstein. The creature asks his creator to make him a "bride" so that they can live happily ever after in South America.

However, in this gothic novel, Frankenstein's creator ultimately decided not to repeat his experiment due to fears of breeding a new terrifying race of creatures that can make humans extinct.
In this new study, scientists made a few assumptions about Frankenstein. They estimated he would have been eight feet tall and eat more different kinds of food than humans and also possess the ability to heal himself after being shot in the shoulder.
Researchers assume that the human population will go extinct in 4,000 years if Frankenstein and his bride had mated and started a new species.
This new study is based on a scientific concept during the 1930s that is known as "competitive exclusion." If animals and humans were to compete for the same limited food and resources, this would limit the life expansion of humans in general.
According to the co-author of the study, anthropologist Nathaniel Dominy from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, this popular novel illustrates how humans already possess fundamental scientific concepts regarding how certain species can thrive or subsist in certain habitats.
The human population is 7.35 billion people today, and hundreds of species are already extinct due to manmade competition or invasive species that are also caused by human interference.
This new study was published in the journal, BioScience.
