Joe Siegrist, vice president and general manager of LastPass, said that the with the proliferation of cloud computing, more and more users are having their data spread across some devices. He added that for a password manager to be truly beneficial, it should be available whenever and wherever it is required by the users. The company said that the new feature would set the benchmark for a "great password management experience."

With the new update, LastPass will allow multi-device syncing to all users. Existing paid users will also get special services such as 1GB of encrypted file storage, two-factor login integration, and family sharing for up to five users. Users can also opt for fingerprint identification mode on desktop.

The app will use advertisements to supporting its freemium models. Users will be required to upgrade to paid mode if they are not willing to put up with advertising banners. While password managers are fast becoming important for keeping track of passwords used for various logins, they are also important to protect against possible data breach.

LastPass was a victim of a security breach last year. However, it contained the damage by early detection of the threat.
