"Foxconn's employees are now working an extra shift in order to ensure that the launch of the Xiaomi Mi5 will go smoothly and without inventory issues," the report said.
It should be noted that the Mi5 has been already delayed as Xiaomi first intended to rollout the device last year but overheating and other issues that plagued the Snapdragon 810 reportedly forced the Chinese smartphone maker to delay its launch plans. From the original 810 chip, Xiaomi had decided to switch to the more powerful and stable SD 820, which is also the same chip that will bring Samsung's Galaxy S7 into life.
Also packed with the Xiaomi Mi5 is generous RAM provision of up to 4GB with the storage configuration said to be in 32GB and 64GB. The handset will sport a 5.2-inch display likely in Full HD or 1080p screen resolution that will be fired up by a 3600mAh battery pack.
As Xiaomi's 2016 flagship, the Mi5 is built and designed with premium finish in mind. "Based on numerous hints so far the Mi5 will sport a metal frame surrounding its edges, sandwiched by two sheets of glass on both the front and the back panel," G4Games said in its report.
The device is expected unpack Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box but the operating system will be layered by freshly cooked Xiaomi skin MIUI 7. But what mostly attracts consumers to the Xiaomi is its relatively cheaper sticker price. The last model sold for no more than $300 despite its high-end specifications, which likely will be seen too with the Mi5.
The Xiaomi Mi5 release date is reportedly set to coincide with the Chinese Lunar New Year or on February 8, with the device unveiling and actual availability expected to happen at the same time at least for Chinese buyers.
