Google has fired back at European Union (EU) over an antitrust case filed against the US company.

Earlier this year, the European Commission accused the company of misusing its dominant position to curtail innovation and the growth of its competitors. Google was also threatened with hefty fines if it did not change its policies. Google has now released an official rebuttal to two of the complaints raised against it.

Google responded to two antitrust charges related to its Google Shopping service and AdSense. The company said that it strives to provide the best quality information to its users when they use Google to search for something on the internet. It elaborated that the company uses the same strategy for searches related to online shopping.

Google also said that it is constantly improving its ad format and aims to provide more detailed information such as prices and links for purchase. The company said that the service benefits Google, its advertisers, and their users. Google concluded that due to this reason, it disagrees with the argument extended by the EU.

The search engine giant also responded to charges regarding online shopping. It said that the online shopping segment had changed drastically in the past decade. The company noted that evolution leads to the changes among competitors.

The EU has confirmed the receipt of Google responses. A spokesperson for the Union said that each response would be carefully considered before any further action would be taken. Google is yet to respond to the third charge related to its use of the Android mobile operating system as a "Trojan Horse."
