In the changing times, and in the fight for advertising dollars, major companies will try to do anything to get that win. As such, Twitter made a promise to draw in more viewers and advertisers on what was possibly the biggest night for a live stream, the 2016 United States Elections. This was Twitter's fight against other microblogging sites, Snapchat and Instagram, and it came out swinging.

To make it all possible, Twitter teamed up with BuzzFeed, which drew in advertisers as big as Paramount Pictures, and Johnnie Walker. As advertisers, the big companies utilized video ads as they have higher rates as compared to ads with pictures or texts.
The big night proved to be just the remedy that Twitter needed to lift its spirits as a record-breaking 75 million tweets were sent out during election night. That number shattered the previous record of 31 million back during the 2012 Elections. The chance that Twitter took proved to be a smart decision as this big election night turn out put the social media platform back on center stage.
Donald Trump has 31.1 million Twitter followers, and Hillary Clinton has 10.4 million. What happened on election night proved that Twitter is still the platform to know what is happening as it happens. This showed that social media was the "go to" destination for not just voting Americans, but for anyone who wanted to know what was going on in the world.
Yes, Facebook may be the bigger platform, but it is where people see things that others have shared, while Twitter is where people go for new information. At the end of the day, Trump won big, but Twitter won even bigger as its stock closed up by one percent at $18.55 on the New York Stock Exchange.
