When Google released its Pixel and Pixel XL phones, they were touted to be as secure as iPhones by the director of security at Android. However, Google's new phones have been hacked by a Chinese group in just one minute, immediately disproving those claims.

This hack on Google's smartphone was carried out by China's Qihoo 360. This was the same group that hacked a Tesla Model S two years ago.

The hack, which took place in Seoul, South Korea at the PwnFest hacking competition, showed that Google's devices could be made vulnerable to remote code execution. This means that cybercriminals can listen in on conversations, and exploit confidential data on the phone.

The Qihoo 360 team showed off their skills in hacking and claimed the $120,000 reward. Google is working on a patch for the exploit that will be released soon. The patch is being developed along with another bug that was exploited by a group of white hat hackers from Tencent's Keen Labs during the Mobile Pwn2Own event in Japan last month.

All the data from Qihoo 360's hack exploit has been turned over to Google, and the group is offering to help the company to fix the security loophole. Pixel and Android are vulnerable to hacks because of the latter's vast customization options. However, owners of the phones should not be worried once the new patch has been completed and released.
