Keyboard phones are a thing of the past as the focus is now on smartphones with big screens. Despite the changing times, Blackberry has kept to its tradition of creating phones with physical keyboards, which is something its loyal customers adore. The smartphone brand is looking to release one more phone that features a keyboard soon. This revelation comes months after reports surfaced that Blackberry would stop producing phones.

This upcoming phone can be considered a final send off to the physical keyboard from the company which once ruled the smartphone market. This phone has since been promised by Blackberry CEO John Chen, and it was confirmed to Bloomberg's Emily Chang during the Techonomy conference in Half Moon Bay, California.
The decision to stop production of phones came after Blackberry suffered major profit losses from manufacturing smartphones. In September, Blackberry announced that it would focus its efforts on its software, and licensing of the Blackberry brand to other companies.
Despite the profit loss, Blackberry was able to release some phones with physical keyboards that were very popular with customers. Some notable models include the Blackberry Q10, Blackberry Classic, and the Blackberry Priv which ran Android OS instead of Blackberry OS. The Priv was a disappointment for the company with low sales due to its high price ($700).
Despite Blackberry's shifts to software, its upcoming phone is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat instead of the company's OS. It is also expected to have a 4.5-inch screen, 18-megapixel camera, and a 3400mAh battery. The phone will also come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device is expected to be released between late 2016 to early 2017, and it will be classified as a mid-range Android smartphone.
