Kaspersky founder and cyber security expert Eugene Kaspersky has taken a jab at Microsoft for disabling third-party antivirus programs when computers are upgraded to the new Windows 10. The main point of his attack on Windows was how the new software upgrade does everything it can to enable Microsoft's antivirus software at the expense of third-party programs including Kaspersky.

The action that Microsoft is taking with Windows 10 is making antivirus companies nervous. Some believe that the software giant is trying to edge out third-party developers in favor of its built-in products for browsing (Microsoft Edge) and security (Windows Defender). In a blog post, Kaspersky slammed Microsoft over how it treats third-party competitors for its gains.

He further explains that Microsoft puts a limit on the number of antivirus software that can be running with the exemption of Windows Defender. His main argument against Microsoft is that the company will favor its products despite customer security and to the detriment of competing products.

Such is the case with the Action Center Notification, which does not explicitly state or require a user to confirm if they want Defender to be activated. Instead, it would automatically do so.

Aside from the criticism against Defender, the free Windows security program has been classified as below average and lagging in safety features. Features like parental controls, password manager, and exploit protections which are user essentials. Microsoft is yet to acknowledge or issue a response to Kaspersky's accusations.
