Apple has created a special hearing aid "Made for iPhone" program that will help disabled people hear audio.
Dagid Grissam, a legally deaf 911 dispatcher, was concerned about his job and "missing audio coming in." However, with the latest technology, Grissam is now "able to hear more than others in the room because of that direct link."

Baha is a "Made for iPhone" device that uses Bluetooth and a special protocol that improves the connection with Apple handsets like iPads and iPhones to allow users to listen to audio straight into their ears. There are 44 compatible hearing aids that users can pair with their handsets and use apps like Pandora, YouTube. This device also lets users take phone calls just like in Bluetooth headsets.
Just like Grissam, over 360 million individuals or five percent of the global population are suffering from hearing disability based on the data from the World Health Organization. Due to the increasing number of senior baby boomers in the United States, it is presumed that hearing loss will be an important matter in the nation.
Usually, streamers are used for the connection of hearing aids with smart devices. However, with the new Apple technology, the intermediary devices are no longer necessary.
The American company has started using this disabled-friendly technology since the launch of iOS7 in 2013. The "Made for iPhone" program was unveiled in the same year.
"When we created the Made for iPhone hearing aid program, the key question was 'how do we improve the ability for someone with hearing loss to use an iOS device to do all the things everyone else does, from making phone calls to FaceTime to listening to music and watching movies?'" Sarah Herrlinger, the senior manager of Apple's global accessibility and initiatives, said.
These hearing aids powered by Apple technology can also be controlled with the company's smartwatches.
