Several rumors about the new iPhone model were brewing around tech websites and blog sites for quite some time already. Some claimed that the tech giant is planning to release a 4-inch iPhone 5e this spring, while some say that the company is working on the iPhone 6c.

As usual, Apple kept a quiet word about the rumors, a practice that even fuels more speculation. At around this time of the year, Apple usually releases a new smaller-sized iPhone. Most of these models bear the C branding.

However, there are rumors claiming that Apple might break convention and instead release an iPhone 7c. There are some who claim that the Cupertino-based company is working on an iPhone 6S mini or the iPhone 5e. The e on the last model stands for "enhanced," that is if all these rumors are true.

Should Apple went on with its usual naming convention, it is most likely that the next model, should the company decides to release one, will be iPhone 6c. This will serve as a follow-up to the iPhone 5c which targets budget-minded users as well as Apple fans in developing markets.

Market analysts believe that the iPhone 6c will stay true to the specs of iPhone 5c and will sport a 4-inch display. Screen resolution should be somewhere around 1,1x36x640 pixels.

With the iPhone 5c, Apple used a hard-coated polycarbonate casing instead of an aluminum enclosure. In this aspect, Apple might make a significant change and will choose to release the iPhone 6c with aluminum instead of a plastic casing, according to Forbes.

Another similarity the iPhone 6c will share with the iPhone 5c is its wide range of available colors. Just like its predecessor, the iPhone 6c is believed to be available in bright color options including pink, blue, green, yellow and white.

The biggest question so far is whether Apple will power the iPhone 6c with the latest A9 chip. In case Apple decides to use the A9 chip, the iPhone 6c will be just as fast as its latest flagship devices, the iPhone 6S, and iPhone 6S Plus.

According to 9to5Mac, the iPhone 6c will have 16GB of storage space and 2GB of RAM.
