Facebook said that its review had located four more metrics which have been miscalculated. These metrics include the number of completed video views, the amount of the time spent on Instant Articles, and the total organic reach of the business pages.
Facebook reportedly over-calculated the average time spent on Instant Articles by seven to eight percent. This over-calculation goes back to August 2015. For Facebook Pages, the company overstated the numbers by counting repeated visits. It is believed that once this metrics tool is fixed, the 28-day reach for these Pages my dip by 55 percent.
However, its mistake related to video views is likely to bump up the numbers. The fixed tool is likely to result in an increase of the number of people watching the complete video. The number is expected to increase by 35 percent on average.
However, Facebook clarified that it does not bill its customers on the basis of metrics. Carolyn Everson, Facebook's vice-president of global marketing solutions, said, "We strive to be as accurate as possible." The social media site is now looking to launch a new blog which will specifically deal with metrics tools.
Facebook offers over 220 metrics tools to its customers. These metrics allow users to determine the efficacy of using Facebook.
